wax vs laser

laser hair removal

What is the difference between wax and laser? Both are hair removal services but there are some key differences!

Waxing is the process of applying wax and pulling the hair against the direction of hair growth and removing the hair from the root resulting in longer times of smoothness as the hair grows back. Over time with consistency the follicle gets trained to no longer grow hair which creates minimal hair and sparseness. We use two types of wax, hard and soft, depending on the area and hair type being waxed. This service is for all hair types! There are some aftercare procedures for waxing which includes no shaving between waxes and following certain restrictions for 24 hours after your wax. Waxing can be more affordable by visit but can add up long term since it may take longer to see hair reduction results. But, Waxing gives instant gratification with smoothness!

Laser hair removal is the newest service on our menu! It is one of the most commonly done cosmetic procedures in the US. Laser hair removal beams highly concentrated light into hair follicles. The pigment in the follicles absorb this light and as a result destroys the hair if the hair is in the active growth cycle. Laser hair removal services require a good faith consultation that clears you for any medical contraindications prior to being serviced. Also, shaving is required before the laser procedure. You must also stay out of the sun before and after your laser treatment, including bed or spray tans. The best candidate for laser is someone with light skin and dark hair. Compared towaxing, laser has a higher price point as it is a medical procedure. Although the up front cost can be higher, depending on individual results can save you money long term.
